Andrew Lees
Hi, I am having an issue with Energos issue on VW 2024 that I haven't experienced before which is driving me slightly crazy! I have set the heliodon to my project location creating a new "city" - in this case a village in the middle of the UK - see my first screen shot below. Upon saving that I then I notice in the object info for the helidodon that the latitude / longitude is not the same as that which I have set - second screenshot. This is the more minor of my issues. Main one below. When I then go into Energos project settings it says it is deriving location from the heliodon (detailing the name of my village) but then has Birmingham USA detailed beneath this. I understand that Vectorworks selects climate data from the closest option to the site - so how am I ending up with Birmingham Alabama??? Any help much appreciated! Thanks. Quote Link to comment
rDesign
As to the first question, it seems that the Heliodon OIP displays the Position as Degrees Minutes (53º 0' N 1º 26' W), where as the Heliodon Settings still shows it as Degrees Lat Long (53.0º N 1.44º W). It's displaying close to the same data (1.44º = 1º 26.4', so it seems like the OIP just drops off the 0.4'). I'd guess that it picked Birmingham AL (USA) because it couldn't find a city close to your location, not sure why it couldn't. It also picked Birmingham AL for me when I followed your steps. This sounds like a bug to me. I think you have to use the 'Advanced Location...' button on the Energos Project Settings to manually pick a City from the UK list that is close to your location. Andrew Lees
Thanks for looking into this @rDesign. After I posted this I ran a simulation at this location and then for comparison ran another simulation with 'Advanced Location', selecting the city of Leeds - which is farther north than the site. The results were similar, but with the performance in Leeds slightly worse - as would be expected. It then occurred to me that the bug is simply the designation of 'USA' after Birmingham, it should be (I deduce) 'UK', as Birmingham UK is 52.4823° N, 1.8900° W which is very plausibly the closest weather data to the site. So bug alert @vectorworks! 1 Quote Link to comment
rDesign
Since the Forum isn't officially monitored by VW employees responsible for filing / fixing bugs you should go ahead and submit a bug report with what you’ve discovered.
