ddcpe
I did the following: created rectangles tracing over a pdf to coincide with some landings on a site plan at varying angles. rotated and stretched the polys to match the size of the pdf line work. converted the rectangles to 3d polygons. used the OI palette to give the various landings the appropriate relative elevations to one another. rotated using orbit tools and activated the push pull tool pulled the face up & down 6" and got an error saying the "objects selected that were locked or are illegal in extrudes and sweeps" in both cases. tried the extrude command as well and it failed with same message in both cases. What am I doing wrong? Quote Link to comment
VIRTUALENVIRONS
A 3D polygon is will not extrude, only a 2D polygon. But, you can use the Shell tool to extrude it or recreate with 2D polygons. Quote Link to comment
Phillip Tripp
Or select object, modify convert to 2D Polygon, wireframe. This will get you back to 2D for extrusion. You can then set the bottom Z and height in the OIP. 1 Quote Link to comment

Whilst you can't run the Extrude command on a 3D Polygon you should be able to use the Push/Pull tool on it. It even has a Push/Pull Mode as part of the tool: The 3D Polygon does need to be planar though. If it is twisted, even by an imperceptible amount, it won't work. Having said that I would probably do it using 2D Polygons from the outset as already described. Quote Link to comment
Claes Lundstrom
Convert the twisted 3D polygon to NURBS to either Push Pull or use the Shell command Quote Link to comment
