domer1322
When I start up VW, I often get a dialog box that says "unable to load Vision library". I always dismiss it and go about my business. How do I eliminate this annoyance ? (and what is in the Vision Library ? am I missing something ? ... does that come only with Spotlight ? ) Quote Link to comment
domer1322
Thanks E/FA ... I thought this was a great idea, until I tried it. When using VW 2024 on my new Mac Mini with MacOS Sequoia, I looked for the VW files under the application support folder, but I found they doesn't exist. There are other support files for other programs, but not VW. So I went back to my old iMac late 2012 with MacOS High Sierra using VW 2021 and found the VW files in exactly the place you described. My old iMac does not have this problem with the "Error Loading Vision Library" Any thoughts ? Anyone ? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Did you actually install VW on the Mini? Or did you just copy over the Applications Folder? It shouldn't matter as VW is supposed to create a user folder if one does not exist. But you never know. Try running the installer if you didn't Quote Link to comment
domer1322
Pat: it took me a while to get around to following your instructions ... I had to re-download VW 2024 again, and install it as if it were fresh. That worked, and got rid of the "vision load" pop-up. in case anyone is interested, I originally loaded VW 2024 on a MacBook air M1 for 'storage'. When I got my new Mac Mini I copied and pasted the VW app with all the libraries from the MacBook Air to the Mac Mini. When i tried to follow the instruction to copy and paste the "application support" folder from the MacBook to the Mac Mini it was very frustrating ... the MacOS just simply wouldn't let me do it. I tried copy-paste, then I tried drag and drop, then I copied to an external SSD then tried to move it. The MacOS just plainly won't let me copy any file into the "Application Support" folder. I'm puzzled ... but it doesn't matter ... case solved. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted February 25 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted February 25 The Vision library is common library that is shared between Vectorworks and Vision. It's installed in a common application directory outside of the Vision and Vectorworks folders. Your best option is to repair Vectorworks or do a clean install to put the files in the proper location. When you moved from one computer to another the path to the files and/or your home directory named changed. Having the files inside of the Vectorworks directory fixes the problem but the installer will not update the files as it expects them to be in a different location. Quote Link to comment
E|FA
@klinzey Is there any reason Vision (and this issue) needs to be included in VW installations for Fundamentals/Architect/Landscape users? 1 Quote Link to comment
