Stair Stringers - Remove Unwanted lines

How do I remove these vertical lines in my stair stringers that seem to coincide with the solid risers?

 

They're really annoying. I don't know why they exist.

if you take a copy of one of your staircases and ungroup it you will find that the stringer for the flight is not created as a single continuous object. 

Warning: Ungrouping converts the stair from a PIO into its components and will they be no longer managed by the stair tool.

Well, yeah, This procedure/workaround is not desirable from a BIM workflow viewpoint....

I have the same problem but learned to let it go. It's funny how walls and slabs will blend, and the lines will disappear, but I'm afraid VW can't do the same in this case.
