Request for Third Party Plugin...

shorter

Question

Seems there are plugins for other software for Leica Cloudworx.

Despite requesting open file formats, this message has not permeated all quarters of the construction industry and we continually get .rcs, and native point cloud formats.

Please partner with Faro and Leica to create plugins to be able to view their native point clouds in Vectorworks.

Hi Stevan Shorter ,

Thank you for your request.

nCircle Tech has developed a plugin for Vectorworks 2024 and 2025 called Point Cloud Importer for Vectorworks (Link). This plugin supports multiple point cloud formats, including .rcs and other widely used industry standards. It is also available on the Partner Products page for Vectorworks 2024/2025.

We understand the challenges posed by proprietary formats and are continuously working to enhance compatibility. Please let us know if you have any specific requirements or questions—we’d be happy to assist!

It is not available for any one using a Mac though, is it?

Oh, and FYI, .rcs is NOT an industry standard.  It is a proprietary file format.
