VW2025 Offline & Online Installer Not Working - Windows 11

KutchalSDS

Question

Hello all. I am an admin for my company, and currently trying to install VW2025 on a new Dell XPS 16 9640 laptop running Windows 11. I have run the installer in Admin mode and Compatibility mode for Windows 7 and 8, but I cannot get the installer to budge from the initial screen that first pulls up when you run the .exe. The installer pulls up to the Introduction tab and just spins for hours. I also went through the Command Line installation process, and both online and offline installation processes failed. Even the offline installer would not work when provided with all the info necessary: product key and LDF file. I am only getting an "unexpected error occurred" message with no further details. Anyone else running into this issue? I'm unsure what to do at this point, especially with the offline/local installation process failing.

Good to know. Thank you! I have a ticket open already but the last response I got took 10 days so figured I would pick brains on here. I'm thinking there's a policy in place at my company that is causing this trouble, so I'm going to try to run the installer on a personal machine at home and go from there. Thanks again!

I’m rather late to the party, but here’s my two cents. Based on my 8+ years of providing technical support for Vectorworks, I’d say your hunch is right on the money. Some network traffic security or antivirus ‘Real time protection’ functionality will be blocking either network traffic or the installer from doing its thing, respectively. Or both.

Please post back here with what the solution turns/turned out to be

Does anyone have a resolution to this problem?
Been reaching out to support directly and not getting any clarity.

Our machines are running Microsoft Defender, and we got one machine to install by temporarily disabling the firewall, but that's not a great solution, and it's also not working on half of our fleet.
