Electric object

Recommended Posts

I just want to say that what is done to this object in 2025 Version is really one big fail. It was completely ok before. Quick and intuitive. Now it is completely unclear how to change the 2d symbol quickly, just to get to it I need 5 clicks, each opening a new view. Before I could change the symbol separately, and it was changed in all installations that use it, now I even can't understand how it is assigned to object, and to change just a color or size I need 3 to 4 !!! opened windows above the drawing. (changing the size with % is a joke, really) All the changes that are made, cause the program to make  pause, when I close this windows. The frames connected to style are also strange. To change the color of a electric socket I need to open the symbol. It is all changed in completely wrong way that is unfriendly to user.  Why it was needed to broke smth that  was fine before?

I don´t know how it is called in english, but I think there are not many to do electric stuff?  The one to place the sockets, switchers etc. In German it is called "Elektroinstlationen".

That might very well be specific to the Computerworks version. They have developed many tools that are specific to their markets. You will probably have to ask on the German forums or ask Computerworld support.

Post an image of the icon and we may be better able to tell you if it is in the stock US version or only localized.

oh, I see. Will write on a German forum then. If there was one in US version I think it would be recognizable from my description. It is quite specific tool/object, since nobody understood what I'm talking about, you more likely don't have it.

We do have two separate plug-in tools in the US-version for Electrical Receptacle and Switch, but their behavior / functionality has not been changed / improved in decades, and so do not sound like what you’re describing.

Is this part of the power planning tools?

no, I don't think so. It is more useful for interior designers to place the the switches, electric and Wlan sockets etc, and combine them in different variations. Actually VW is the first program where I see this type of build in tool. Neither Archicad, no Revit have it from the start. And I was really fond of it before...but not anymore.

Now it looks like this.
