Why don't files saved in 'Settings' work when loaded into the workgroup folder?

Are there more Architects working solo using Vectorworks, than in a team?

 

It has always frustrated me that settings you want to be centralised, like certain preferences, and DWG import/export settings, only work when they are loaded into the user's application support or app data folder.

 

Why do DWG import/export settings not work when loaded into the Settings folder in the Workgroup or Project folder, for example?

 

Given Vectorworks is nice enough to recreate all the application support folders in the workgroup folder... one would have thought there would be a purpose to this digital fly-tipping ;-), but no... DWG_DXF settings only work when loaded locally.

 

Teamworking is not just about sharing files.

I agree that this should work as you specify.

 

I believe I played with the a few years ago and was able to use a Symbolic Link (think alias on steroids from the unix underpinnings of Mac OS) could be made From the file in the workgroup TO the user file and it would work.

 

So if you are an all Mac office, it is possible. But not fun or convenient.
