Cookie_NZ
Hi all, I've had some odd behaviour with fixture orientation when moving plans with MVR from Vectorworks into Capture. I've heard nothing back from Capture yet, so I thought I'd ask here in case anyone else has seen the same thing. I've found when importing fixtures into Capture with an MVR from Vectorworks, the fixture orientation is often different in Capture from the Vectorworks file. Here's an example with an Ayrton, GLP, Martin & Robe fixtures: Vectorworks Capture Is this related to Vectorworks' or Capture's implementation of MVR? Does MVR even reference fixture orientation (front/cable/screen etc)? Any thoughts are most appreciated! Cheers, Cookie Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee jcogdell Posted January 13 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 13 Hi Cookie Fixture orientation is defined by the GDTF/MVR spec and is consistant for both GDTF and MVR. GDTF's include pigtail/power input geometry and normally this should line up with the red box on the Vectorworks symbol. The easiest way to check whether this is a Vectorworks issue or a Capture issue is to see how the MVR imports into another application such as MA3 3D. Also did you include GDTF's with the MVR when you exported it? If you DM me the file I can take a look. 1 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted January 13 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 13 The rotation between the Vectorworks symbol and the GDTF file is off by 180deg. We are working on correcting the issue. If you display the GDTF geometry in Vectorworks and view it in 3D the orientation of the GDTF file will match the export. Quote Link to comment
Cookie_NZ
@klinzey Thanks for the information about the 180º rotation. From what I see with our house rig, that certainly makes sense when the file is ported from VWX to Capture. Looking forward to the fix! Cheers, Cookie Quote Link to comment
