How to save a roof style? - I don't see "New Roof Style from Unstyled Roof" in the context menu

Recommended Posts

I am seeing the same thing in VW2025.

The works around appears to be to use a style similar to what you need, set the roof to that and use the right click Locate Roof Style in Resource Manager and duplicate it there. You can then either edit it from the RM, or apply it to the roof and then Edit Style.

Not sure how to make a style from an Unstyled roof.

Thanks to @Tom W. I have traced this back to a workspace issue.

My Designer workspace in my user folder does not show the Create from Unstyled option, but both the current Architect and Designer workspaces in the Application folder do show it.

My workspace was probably from a very early version and this was probably fixed in an Update.

I have not figured out how to add it to the Object Context menu, but if you switch to a new stock workspace you should get what you are looking for.

I think this is something that changed between VW2025 Release (or maybe an early Beta release) and Update 2. I am relatively certain that I started using the stock VW2025 default workspace rather than upgrading from 2024.

Would still be nice to figure out how to add this functionality rather than have to start over again with stock.

@Gunther??

I migrated my VW2024 workspace to VW2025 rather than rebuilding it from scratch which I normally do so you could be right.

I have confirmed Migrating a stock workspace (in my case Designer/Design Suite) from 2016-2024 into 2025 retains the context menu, "New Roof from Unstyled Roof" command.  Best I can tell, the command is not being removed, if it previously existed.  Which points to Patrick's comment, the issue may stem from using an earlier workspace where the command did not previously exist.  I'm not aware of a way to add these command via the Workspace Editor and let me see what I can find out...

The command is not in the workspace editor - it is hardcoded and should always be available.  The only cases it wouldn't be there are:

-The user is not currently using a Design Series license

-The object is already styled

@Pat Stanford When time permits, would you mind submitting a bug with your Designer workspace that's not displaying the command?  Please share any past history with the workspace that you recall and we'll take another look.

Thanks!!
