Safak Sari
Hello everyone. Now i'm working on my stage design. I want to create a movie animation. However there's happening a problem. Every time VW is getting quit unexpected error. And also Final quality render mode takes 3 days, 17 hours ... long So Wich render mode should i choose each of them? And also if hove have any advice about the best render mode, please let me know. Thank you. Quote Link to comment
fabrica
3 days!!?? maybe an external render engine like twinmotion (free) would be worth investigating? Quote Link to comment

Thank you. It's not possible to know what the problem is without more information. It sounds like you may be using really high quality settings and making you machine consume all of its ram and graphic pipeline. You could render to the Vectorworks cloud as a potential solution. Perhaps calling tech support might help. Quote Link to comment

The process is using %11-12 CPU, 8Mb memory and power usage is very high. Yes now i try to render from Vectorworks cloud services. But it seems 1 day 22 hours long. 😞 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Peter Neufeld. Posted January 5 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 5 Hello, There are quite a few things to understand when rendering and animating. To troubleshoot this you need to redo everything and start at the lowest quality level, not the highest. True for frame rate, resolution, Renderworks and lighting. Provided it gets to the finish, you should then incrementally increase the settings to get what you find acceptable. Don't start with Final Quality Renderworks as every setting is set to high. Start by using Custom Renderworks with everything set to low. Then in the Custom Renderworks dialogue as you move the mouse over each setting read the help text at the bottom in order to understand what it is you are changing upwards. Likewise for all other settings when setting up the animation. Cheers, Peter 2 Quote Link to comment
Leonarddel
Here are a few tips I use to speed up render times and I have seen a big difference; If you have lighting fixtures (beams or washes) You would want to stop that light somewhere, Create walls or ceilings, (Extruded geometry works fine). Example being if you have several lights on the stage floor shooting up into the air then VW is not going to know when to stop rendering that light beam, Especially if you have lite fog turn on. Hit a stop point or set a Fall off distance. Reduce textures, If you have textures on objects that are far away in you starting view and throughout your movie, then there is no reason to have them. Simply remove the texture from the object(s) and color them in attributes. Reflections: Chrome, Metal and Glass textures are time consuming when it comes to rendering. If you want to keep those textures then edit them and reduce the reflections to 1 or even 0. Camera setting are a thing if your not familiar with photography settings thing you might want to do a bit of googling to show what camera setting really do. Render your still views in Viewports and not from the design layer. Use Fast Renderworks to make quick changes to your lighting fixtures before choosing a Final Style of rendering. These are just some options for some quicker times. However with 24 Gig Ram you are limited to what your machine can handle, Yes it will do the job but 3 days sounds about right at High level settings. Attached are some examples of Lit Fog settings, Preview to help give you an idea before hitting that render trigger. Last is a render movie I did a few days ago, I removed the texture from the metal seat frames and had a low setting just so I can see how it looked. I will re-render it in a more final style (Mainly because it flies through the camera Op!) but I'm using 32 gigs of Ram. If your wondering? Yes that whole movie was done in Vectorworks no outside software. Hope this helps. 1st Render.mp4 Imag Video Walkthrough.mp4 1 Quote Link to comment
