Say you want to use the floating Datum and smart cursor from an object on one side of the page to start an object on the other side.
If the cursor passes over or even near any other points, edges etc, the smart cursor will snap over to them in preference to the point you started with. If the drawing is a bit busy, it will skitter all over the place.
I would reeeeeely like to snap the datum on to a point and with a modifier key "lock" that datum down till ive finished using it.
