VGX, Initial view not working

Hi, friends.

I can't get VGX files to open with a saved initial view set for "walk through" mode.

I've tried :
Setting initial perspective view

Using a saved perspective view

Creating a RW Camera and using the active camera as the current view

All lead to a "bird's eye" view of my model.

I've tried viewing the model in a browser and in Nomad, no luck.

Any tips on setting the initial view in VGX files?

Hi @BartH,

It is not currently possible to configure the initial view of a vgx file, but very soon it will be. We are preparing to release a new version in mid January 2025, where you will be able to save views within the viewer.

Best regards,

Hi @BartH,

Thank you! We are currently working on tethered mode for Vectorworks Odyssey, which would bring light direction control, shadows and ambient occlusion to VR. Adding saved camera positions to Odyssey has also been discussed and it is a possibility for later this year.

Let me know if you have any feedback on the hot off the press saved views in the 3D viewer.

Great!

So far, saved views work really well.

I was expecting the VGX file to open with my saved views from VW but that apparently isn't the case

I quickly figured out how to reset the "Home view" and now that is how my file opens. That's a big help!

Adding additional views is intuitive, too.

So, a nice improvement overall.
