Enscape 4.2.1.88 and Vectorworks 2025

Question

Hi,

I can't understand why but almost none of the geometry of my Vectorworks model is not exported to Escape. As you can see in the screenshots I attach, my Vectorworks model is full of geometry but on the Escape windows you can only see Enscape native objects and very little of the Vectorworks geometry.

I've also had this issue with Vectorworks 2023 SP8 and the latest version of Enscape.

Regrettably I can't work this way and I've had to downgrade my Enscape installation to version 3.5.6+204048 as it is in this version that I don't have this issue. That version is already quite an old version of Enscape but that's the only one that's working right now for me.

I've tried exporting the geometry in all quality levels with Enscape 4.2.1.88 and it still doesn't work. In Enscape 3.5.6+204048 I don't have that option, but the geometry is shown without any issues.

I would appreciate any help regarding this issue. Maybe it's just a bug and there's nothing I can't do but just wait for the issue to be fixed.

Thanks in advance to anybody that answers.

Looks a bit like my initial DWG Exports from VW 2025.

The first Export always looks like that, about 60% comes as 2D only or not at all ....

if I export again with same Settings, it usually works as expected.

Does re-exporting a second time work in this case too ?

In your case it looks like Enscape doesn't like any "multi component" Walls and

Slabs, at least when they have openings. And Windows, at least when in second floor -

which doesn't make much sense either .....

Thanks for the prompt reply @zoomer

I've tried exporting once again, I've also tried restarting Vectorworks, reinstalling Escape but had no success in solving the issue.

Anyhow the linkage between Enscape and Vectorworks is real-time. There is an initial expoert phase which takes a bit but then changes are synchronized between both programs. Simillar to Twintmotion.

Good that you tell me the issues you're having with Vectorworks 2025 and DWG exports, I use them all the time to send my drawings to the engineers I'm collaborating with.

And in your second attempt you had the same result - same objects missing ?

Sorry, did not really read your initial post - that it works in 3.6 fine.

So it looks like an Enscape issue.

I see on the Enscape Forum that people have lots of issues with 4.2 .... but nothing that really matches your problem. Looks like not many Enscape users use VW. Issues reported by Sketchup users, lagging and crashes.

I would have assumed to try 4.3 Preview, but release notes do not show any changes related to geometry problems. You could maybe try a 5.1 installer.

I have v4.2.1 and working with VW 2024, not seeing this particular problem.  It could be a bug with Enscape, it also could have something to do with classes if your walls have components assigned to classes.  Most likely, though, I would suspect the z extents of wall components not being properly interpreted by Enscape.  If you look at your wall component settings, you will probably see some are set to layer height, some to wall height, and I think there is another option.  Try playing with those.

I managed to solve the issue with the help of Enscape support.

The solution was very simple. Now everything is working fine. I just needed to toggle a setting that you can find explained here:

Thanks for your interest @zoomer and @P Retondo, I'm glad that everything is working fine now.

@Jerome Anglin I've managed to make it work although for sure it's now the way it should work by default. What I do is open the Enscape viewer and the first time there will always be missing geometry. Then to correct this issue, what I do is simple click on a saved view, wait for the model to regenerate and then the problem is fixed. So, make sure you open the model a first time and then regenerate the model by clicking on a saved view and you should be fine. Ah! and always be sure that the Geometry Update Setting toggle be toggled on always.
