Leonarddel
Does cable tools know that there a 6ft of cable on a distributor? Example is I have a fixture 5'5" away from the distributor and the tool is putting a 10' L6-20 cable in for this run. 2nd, How would you add cable tail each of my fixtures? I have 3' tail of cable on them IRL, See picture of below in the worksheet. Overall questions are, How do you reduce a cable size? or How do I set it to see a 6ft of cable on the breakout and 3' of cable on the fixture? I tried putting 0' in the slack cells but that didn't do anything. Edited December 20, 2024 by Leonarddel Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Scott C. Parker Posted December 20, 2024 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 20, 2024 Spotlight cables allow you to add slack at the start or end of cables. You can also subtract slack from the cable. You can use a negative number in the cable configuration and/or the cable worksheet slack column, which will change the cable. In a worksheet, you can select all the cables attached to two-fers or breakouts and place a negative number in the slack data field. You might need to update and then/reload the cables via the manage cable parts dialog to force a cable refresh. In other words, if you use a 10' breakout, you can deduct the 10' from the cables connected to the breakout. We're working on making it automatic. But for now, this is the workflow. 1 Quote Link to comment

This is just a personal preference, but I never use the tail on the fixture when accounting for cable runs. I always want the connector living as close to the fixture as possible. At best, the tail might account for the vertical distance from the cable run on top of the truss to the fixture hanging on the bottom truss rail. 1 Quote Link to comment
