Vectorworks, Inc Employee Popular Post Dave Donley Posted January 13 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Popular Post Share Posted January 13 Metallic and other reflectivity shaders have clear coat as an option, if you set the clear coat to non-zero we do the layering of the texture for you "under the hood" Here is my attempt at a nice metallic light blue car paint. grant_PD
@Dave Donley That's great! I stand corrected! Is there an ability to add in a roughness map as well? it looks like the roughnesses are just generic. 2 Quote Link to comment

VIRTUALENVIRONS
I am starting to have a renewed interest in Vectorworks rendering. Water was always somewhat problematic. Quote Link to comment

I do agree, Vectorworks does not have, but probably does not need the multiple reflections. Architecture tends to be more flat than reflective. I am spending more time with VW's rendering. I did not really understand backgrounds when I made the animation as I came back to it after ten years, but up to speed now. I like it. For reflections, adding light sources to the scene will create reflections. Also, the added light shows something that was not apparent in the animation. The paint is metallic. 1 Quote Link to comment

For example — large panes of architectural glass are both flat (not perfectly) and very reflective. Almost every surface in the real world is reflective to some extent. [BTW this topic has gotten really off-track from the original poster’s question about suggestions for improving the rendering quality of a restaurant interior]. VIRTUALENVIRONS
Yes, the topic has gotten off track, imagine that, but a lot of it was going towards Vectorworks "not being able to do stuff" as well as other programs. This always bothers me a bit. The power of Vectorworks is vastly under used. 1 Quote Link to comment
bcd
For reference here's a Lumion rendering in response to OP's question and using the original file with its VW textures: Timings LiveSync VW->Lumion about 5s Scene setup in Lumion about 1 minute Render in Lumion 25s 3 Quote Link to comment
