If I update the VP the mirror displays.

The other thing you could try is converting the object (the mirror) from an Extrude to a Generic Solid as I'm pretty sure that's come up before.

I have had issues with Grouped geometry in symbols not displaying in section VPs but that's not the case here.

Aha so in the file you prepared for the Forum you removed the Groups, and that's why when I updated the VP it displayed correctly? That would make sense.

I often Group geometry inside symbols + then class the Group, rather than classing the individual objects, just to organise it better + make it clearer what the classing is. But I have then found that the geometry inside those Groups is not displaying in section VPs + I have to Ungroup it all again + class the objects individually after all...

If I open the file (and update the viewport) I don't get quite the same result - I can see the mirror but it does not have the hatch fill that it should have.

Exploding/ungrouping the symbol it's part of fixed it.

I also tried changing it from an extrude to a generic solid - and this caused it to disappear altogether in the section view (it was still present in 3d).

It's part of a "flipped symbol" and occasionally I find odd things happen with flipped symbols so maybe that's relevant?
