cberg
When I attempt to update to VW 2025 - SP2.1, I get an error message stating that I must close Vectorworks 2025 first. Vectorworks 2025, however is not open—any ideas as to how to fix it? Restarting did not help. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Restart the computer and run the updater without opening VW? 1 Quote Link to comment
rDesign
A similar issue was reported about earlier Vw2025 update releases, maybe it's still around. See the following thread, maybe the fix that @Tim Ardoin posted there will resolve your issue: Edited December 5, 2024 by rDesign 2 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tim Ardoin Posted December 5, 2024 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 5, 2024 Hi @cberg, Can you PM me the log from ~/Library/Logs? It should reveal what's blocking it. I'll actually make a note to have it report exactly what process it's finding in the future. Thanks for linking the above thread @rDesign . That fix should be live, so I'm wondering if there's something else running. Best regards, Tim 1 Quote Link to comment

Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tim Ardoin Posted December 5, 2024 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 5, 2024 Thanks for the @cberg . I was able to see the process blocking update ( Vectorworks 2025.app/Contents/Frameworks/Vectorworks Web Helper (GPU).app/Contents/MacOS/vectorworks_error_handler ). I'm asking around to see why this was stuck running. For now, the updater was working as designed, but depending on what I find out, I can have it ignore that one or maybe provide a button that lets the user attempt to kill the processes it finds. And as mentioned, have it show what it found is running. A reboot is a good remedy for now if this shows up again. Quote Link to comment
Windows an allem schuld. Ich kann es langsam nicht mehr hören. 1 Quote Link to comment

Not clear what will quit if press the Quit button - vwx? Or the updater? Not clear whether Try Again would install the desired update? Poor wording! Should at least offer “Quit Vectorworks” or “Quit Vectorworks and Try Again” Suggestion - When the Check for Updates detects an available update, it should inform that vwx needs to quit in order to update, and offer choice of Save&Quit Vwx&Update or Cancel the update process. If Save&Quit&Update is selected, all open vwx files are saved and closed, vwx quits, the updater launches and proceeds with the update. That’s what I think, anyway. -B 5 Quote Link to comment
