Riggers Bridle Tool...

Ben Hammett

Question

I'd love to see a tool for calculating bridle leg lengths and weight distribution (for those scratching their heads, a bridle is a set of converging steel ropes hung from various hanging points in a building to create a temporary point somewhere in between - or in paper terms for joining the dots from a venue roof plan to those on a lighting plot)

Ideally you could choose the type of bridle (2 leg, 3 leg etc.), click on each of the existing hanging points, double click on where you need the resulting point to be and then tab through to adjust the leg lengths and required height.

The icing on the cake would then be an info box for each point that would display load distribution as a percentage or a total of given weight, giving a better idea of how deep or shallow the bridle can be. (Angle of legs affect how much height you lose and how much load you distribute or create)

Vectorworks seems to be the standard in the entertainment industry and I think this tool would be a great addition to Spotlight.
