Structural Grid behavior

Recommended Posts

Thanks, Tom! I guess I don't fully understand how this tool works. I had wondered why I could change the length in a viewport and it did not change the size universally. I noticed a warning when I started to hide the structural grid layer in one of the viewports that hiding the layer would delete any changes I had made to the lines. Good to know but it seems odd.

Basically you place the Grid Lines on the design layer but are free to customise how they are then displayed in VPs. The Grid Lines in VPs are instances of the Grid Line definitions on the DL. This means you have lots of flexibility from VP to VP, working from the same defining objects. See Help:

They're the oddest quantum thing ever. Very useful. Odd. They appear in the x-y plane one instant, and at the same time zoom up in z

They'll appear in a section Viewport, unless it's been rotated off 90º. You can even delete it here and its there doesn't care. Wonderfully maddening.

So now I can't get the letter "I" to appear. When I go the next grid from "H" it skips to "J". When I try to manually insert "I" it will not let me warning me that I am trying to insert a value that is not incremental. Is there a work-around for this?

Nevermind. I found a setting that excludes certain letters.
