jwlandscape
Is there a way to convert stairs made with the stair tool into a site modifier that will reshape the site model? I work on sloped sites often and I'm trying to figure out if there's a workflow that will allow me to create stairs that will behave as a site modifier. It seems like stairs in landscapes and models would be something that comes up a lot but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot in the knowledgebase that's helpful. I'm still learning how to be proficient with using site models and site modifiers and I can't seem to find any way to do this. Edited November 12 by jwlandscape Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
If you make the stair concrete, and then look at the underside of the stair, you can use the extract tool from the 3-D modelling tool set to extract the surface of the stair, if you create this as a planar object, then you can use the create object from shapes command to convert this to a site modifier. 2 Quote Link to comment
Poot
Alternative to the quick method suggested by @Jonathan Pickup, you can either draw a 3d poly which you then convert to a site modifier. If you use the same stairs often, you can group these, and even create them as a symbol for quick use that avoids redrawing the poly every time. Quote Link to comment
