Hidden object per viewport

MartinBlomberg

Question

Hi,

I'm probably missing something obvious, but I can't get viewports to hold different object visibilities. I'd like to show a wall on one viewport, but hide it on another. As soon as I hide it in one viewport it's hidden everywhere.  I'm on VW2025 and clicking around with the visibility tool like a mad-man without any success.

Thanks all!

This shouldn't be happening. The Object Visibility settings should be on a VP by VP basis. You might need to post a video showing what you're doing.

Just soI understand correct, should I be able just to hover over the viewport and be able to, via the tool (V key) be able to hide/show objects?

Or do I need to enter the design layer on each viewport?

Thanks!

Yes if you use the Visibility Key in 'Objects Mode' (the third mode) with 'Hidden Mode' enabled in the second mode group it should just be a matter of clicking on objects from outside the viewport to make them disappear. The exception to this is Section VPs where it doesn't work from outside the VP + you have to Edit Section in Place to do it.

Note: the 'V' key is no longer the shortcut to the Visibility Tool (unless you changed it back). Since VW2025 it toggles 'Show Objects Ghosted'/'Hide Objects' (this only affects objects on the Design Layer: you can't show them ghosted in VPs).

Thank you! Here's a video, please let me know if I'm being stupid or if something's wrong.

Thank you @Tom W.!

Ok seen it now. In your OP you said the tool was hiding objects successfully in the VP, just applying it to other VPs on the sheet at the same time, but in the video it doesn't look like it's doing anything at all. What type of VP is it? Top/Plan or Horizontal Section? Like I said, if it's a section you have to go inside it, you can't do it from the outside.

Have you tried creating some geometry + VPs in a test file + at least see that it works there, then you can try + work out what's different about the working file?
