Flared Staircase help

Hi

I recently started using vectorworks and need some help with making a staircase. I am trying to make a staircase that comes down and flares out at the end on both sides(similar to picture below). Any help is appreciated.

This will be something you'll need to model directly, NOT using the Stair tools.  I'll let others chime in with advice on modeling techniques.

A quick + simple way to do it would be to use the legacy Simple Stair tool to create the staircase initially then use a combination of the Deform Tool (Bulge + Bend modes) + Subtract Solids to model the shape you want.

If I am not mistaken, the bottom rows flare like an apron.  Is that a correct statement?  Do you need the bottom to flare?  The process to build this is somewhat complex. 

 

I modelled this in Vectorworks a while back.  Is this something like what you need?

Yes, that is very similar to what I am trying to make. A staircase with the bottom flared out.

If this is a one time thing, I would be happy to give the steps to you.  They are scalable.  I would delete the railings, etc. so you could put your own in.

 

If this is something you will be doing on an ongoing basis, I would need to do a tutorial.

Don't know why your are being blocked from the main Forum.  Are you logged out?  Anyway as per your message, below is the file of the Stairs only.

1 - Edit group will separate some sections.  You could remove a section.  I backed it up to 2020 in case you don't have a current version of VW's.

2- To scale the entire object, first group it.   This will give you handles to scale.

 

If you need railing help, just ask.
