PLUGIN OBJECTS LOCKED TO CLASS

Hello I am trying to move some plugin objects to demo class (doors windows stairs) and they seemed locked?

Is there a setting somewhere that will allow me to change this?

The original file was created from the 3D scanning app Canvas and converted to Vectorworks file by them.

Does anyone have any ideas this is quite frustrating.

Thank you!

Thank you, in this case I have a door which is unstyled. In the OIP it is shown set to Door-Main Class. When I try to change this to demo class it won't change.

The same goes for windows and stairs. It is as if they are locked.

In any other file I have no issue changing the class of a door or window, there is just something in this file that I cannot figure out

Thanks for the help,

What do you mean my locked?  Does the class name in the OIP change?

Doors and windows have lots of internal classes to control different parts. If you need these to change you need to click on the Settings button.

Hey Pat,

just to dig this out.

I'm wondering what should be a proper workflow to handle visibility of some design elements. Let's say structural member (beams, vertical pillars).

Once choosen with a certain style or unique section (that dictates the visualization of fill, boundary and so on), in the OIP the inserted "object" just relays on the given layer but class is seto to NONE and greyed out.

What if I want to hide the vertical pillars only BUT not all the other objects that belong to the none class?

It sounds as if you are using a Styled Object and the Style is set to control the class.

Locate the Style in the Resource Manager, Right Click on it and select the Plug-In Style Options. Either click on the icon at the left of the first row to make the class be By Instance or change the Class to something other and None. Then you should be able to control your visibilities as you want.

Alternatively, if you like having the Structural Member in the None class but still want more control over visibilities, click on the Settings button in the OIP and set the classes of the sub parts of the object to other classes you can control in the Attributes pane.  If the object is Styled you will have to do this from the Edit Style option or from the Resource Manager.
