Visibility Tool 2025 Shortcut

FYI default Visibility short cut is no longer available. It has been rerouted in default to display toggle of Ghosted items.

 

IMO this was frustrating and I reverted the visibility tool back to previous deployed defaults. The new ghost toggle could have been coded to an available open key that was not already in use.. Not sure why that was a decision that was decided to be the best choice.

To avoid this in the future (assuming VW won’t change their decisions) use a custom Workspace. VW does a good job highlighting the new items in each release, so you can go in and add the ones you need and choose what keys to assign. You can create the custom Workspace by duplicating and renaming the default one you’re already using.

But the point still exists. I'm well aware of workspaces and the customization options therewithin, respectfully.

I agree wholeheartedly that VW changing a keyboard shortcut in a default Workspace was not a good choice. Anyone else unfamiliar with custom Workspaces can use this thread for info.

Unfortunately, there is no way to use a modifier with this key and trying to set alt(option)-V for the Visibility tool will result in opening a menu on Windows. We were between a rock and a hard place here and in the end we assumed with this being a flagship feature that will be used by many, toggling between ghosted and hidden would be more important than the existing keyboard shortcut. This was quite some topic for lengthy discussions. Sorry if we have missed the mark here for you.

So, the thought was remove the shortcut for a tool of a longtime useful legacy tool and added it to a feature of the parent tool. Brilliant decision, I would hope the thought of utilizing unmapped keys for your tools, would have been part of the conversation.

 

Also, the lead time for support currently at 72 hours patiently waiting.....

The funny thing is I still change ‘V’ to be the shortcut to Zoom Out which was the even older (MiniCad?) default.  Double-click ‘C’ to zoom in, double-click ‘V’  to zoom out. Muscle memory is forever.
