I wish someone could explain "Automatic Lighting"

Hello David:

If there aren't any lights in your layer a default lighting scheme is used. That way you never get in a situation where your objects are flat, dark and gray-looking because only ambient is there.

If any lights exist, the automatic lighting is disabled and your lighting is used.

This is particularly useful when combined with the new capability of rendering when in symbols and groups. You don't have to put lights in your symbol or groups to see them.

Thank you Dave. I just realized how great this is. In the past I have wasted so much time hunting down the extra light sources in my model that I had to add during the design process.

No more adding lights just to see an Open GL view. It is like removing a pebble from your shoe. It was never disabling, but it sure is nice now that it is gone.

Thanks

Sounds good but still can not get it to work and the movie will not download.

Maybe auto ligt is not kicking in because my lighting is in place, but how do you turn off your own lighting?

It is on a seperste class / layer but turning those off does not seem to work.
