Michael Siggers
Hello Not entirely sure I have put this one in the correct section so if it needs moving, let me know. I decided to try the Publishing to Cloud, and selected the option to 'Store on Dropbox but Process in the Cloud', (I have linked my Dropbox to the Cloud). It all worked very quickly but I noticed on closer inspection that it had rasterised some of the text in my Title Block and made it look jagged as well as stretching some of it, almost as if it had substituted a font. When I process the Sheets not using the cloud, i.e. on the computer, everything is fine and the text as sharp. I am wondering if the Cloud Publishing substitutes fonts that it does not have. The font I have used is Arial Narrow, which I would have thought is a standard font. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Kind regards Mike Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee inikolova Posted October 29, 2024 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 29, 2024 Hi @Michael Siggers, I am sorry for the inconveniece. The Cloud team has done some re-installations on our servers and it turned out that the collection of fonts that we support has not been installed yet. The installation is currently being run and all system fonts should be available on all servers by tomorrow. Let us know if the issue continues. Best regards, Iskra Nikolova 1 Quote Link to comment
Michael Siggers
Thank you @inikolova I did find that if I process and publish on the Cloud, the fonts were ok. Kind regards Mike Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee inikolova Posted October 29, 2024 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 29, 2024 It might have depended on which server the job has landed on rather than the Publish setting. Please try your original scenario after tomorrow and let me know if the issue persists. 1 Quote Link to comment
DCarpenter
I'm having the same issues with fonts being substituted. Is there any more information about how to keep this from happening? This is a real deal breaker for me. Not only does our drawing border look different from the rest of our company, but substituting out client specific fonts for their drawings reflects badly on us. It would be ideal of I could upload different font types to my VW Cloud Service account, and have the processing engines reference that folder before substituting for a generic font. That would be a nice Christmas gift!!! Dave Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee inikolova Posted November 25, 2024 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted November 25, 2024 @DCarpenter, You can upload custom fonts on the same storage where the .vwx file is, and the server should use them during the publishing. In other words, if your file is on Vectorworks Cloud Storage, the font files should also be on the Vectorworks Cloud Storage. If the .vwx file is in Dropbox, the fonts should also be on Dropbox, etc. Let me know if you run into issues and I can look into your specific case. Quote Link to comment
DCarpenter
That did it, thank you. I placed the fonts I use in a folder, within the Vectorworks Cloud Services folder, along with my VWX file and the PDF's came out perfect. Thank you for your help.
