Hardscape hatches in Top/Plan not consistent.

Recommended Posts

This is a recuring problem I've been having with hardscapes.

Example hardscapes (A) and (B) are the exact same style (see OIP screen Grab Below)

They are both on the same Class and Layer

They are both set to use Fill attributes 'by class' - both in the style and in the attribute menu.

....but Hardscape (A) will not show the hatch pattern.

I even used the eyedropper tool to select <all attributes> from Hardscape (B) and drop it onto hardscape (A)

To be honest, I don't know what parameter actually controls hatch visibility in top/plan view...

Hardscapes components in the example file:

They are both the same Style and therefor have the same components.

The component has the 2D Attributes Base Fill set to "by class" - the class uses Hatch Pattern "1-GC-type 2 crushed 3/8".

I also have the hatch set in the "section fill" area (see below) to "1-GC-type 2 crushed 3/8"

...I have always assumed this might be "section fill' AND "top/plan view fill" --- Maybe I'm wrong about this?

The textures in 3D are as expected and the same for each object.

SCREEN GRABS

Top/Plan - Hatch should be the same for (A) and (B):

I was testing the German release today and encountered similar issues. It seems like a bug to me, so I stopped further investigations.

What works: reassigning the hatch at “joint pattern overlay.”
There is something off with the 2D-display settings above (especially when using 2024 styles?)

@hollister design StudioA file would help nail down what's going on here but I noticed your attributes are set to "By Instance" which allows you to give different attributes to each hardscape object while using the same style. If you want the attributes to be the same, I would recommend changing this parameter to "By Style". You would set this parameter to "By Instance" if you want a different graphic/fill for how it appears in top/plan but want everything else to follow the 'by style' settings. I hope this helps!

This, along with landscape areas is a current bug in 2025. I'm running into the same issue with Hardscapes as well as graphic troubles with the new landscape area tool. Supposedly it's getting worked on and hopefully fixed in the next update. Kind of an important tool!
