Michael Siggers
Hello I am not a Kitchen Designer but am trying to show an indicative layout for the Kitchen space. I have been using the Kitchen Base units and Countertop tool. When I try to insert a sink into the Countertop, although it cuts a hole, the sink sits too low, as can be seen from the attached image. I can not find anyway of raising the sink. In the Countertop Properties, there is an option for having Insertions as Undermount, and I have checked that this is unticked. Also, there do not appear to be any Sink Base Units in the Cabinet Tool, or at least I can not find any. Also, a minor point, but I can not find any bog standard Kitchen Sinks in the Vectorworks Resource Library. Am I correct in saying that none are available? Kind regards Mike Edited October 8, 2024 by Michael Siggers Additional Information added. Quote Link to comment
Tom W.
Check the insertion point for the symbol (edit the 3D component). The insertion point wants to be the underside of the sink i.e. where it meets the worktop. It looks like your 3d geometry needs raising. As for your second question all the sinks I use I modelled myself... 1 Quote Link to comment

Not sure why I didn't think of that. Turns out the object I am using has no steel thickness, but got it to work for what I need. Thank you for confirming about using own sinks. I'll start looking on Bim Object. Mike 2 Quote Link to comment
TomKen
@Michael Siggers You are referring to the sink cutting a hole in the countertop. Are you using VW 2025? you signature says 2023. In VW 2025, In the counter top settings under insertions you can check or uncheck the box for undermount sink. In the base cabinet tool if you want a sink front then insert a false front in the cabinet settings and this will a drawer front without a shelf so that the sink hangs into the cabinet. VW really made some great improvements to the cabinet and countertop tools. I work mostly on School construction projects. All our millwork gets sent out for shop drawings but we still need to layout all the millwork bathrooms, kitchens, classrooms on our plans and interior elevations. The improvements made have been a great time saver for me. Quote Link to comment

Hi Yes, I did check that Undermount Option. Thank you for the advice on the False Drawer fron. I did find this, but it took me ages to figure out how to change its height. Apologies, I will correct my information to say VW2025. Kind regards Mike Quote Link to comment
TomKen
@Michael Siggers The height of cabinet elements is not intuitive, click on calculator to set the height. And I see I need to update my signature as well. Edited October 8, 2024 by TomKen 1 Quote Link to comment

Michael Siggers
Well, the sink I needed downloaded from BimObject in Revit format. I do like that Vectorworks can import Revit files. Some setting up of the object required, including creating a 2D view when creating the 3D/2D symbol, but all works well. Now just need to increase my Library. Thank you for all your help. Going to start my own Style collection for cupboard units too. I don't need them alot, but occasionally I need to show a more in depth Kitchen layout. Mike Quote Link to comment
