Rotations, axis, planes

Recommended Posts

Hello guys

I have two questions about this subject:

1. Question

normally I use the rotation tool on multiple objects, I am not sure but I think when I use this tool with multiple objects selected all of them rotate like as group.

Yesterday, I was rotating some objects and the tool applied the rotation individually for each object.

I like both behaviours but I didn’t figure out how I can switch between them.

2. Question

Where can I find content/tutorials about working planes, layer planes, axis, lock axis movement, and rotating views?

(Yesterday an icon appeared in the view types, between Top/Plan and Top, with a name similar to this)

I saw some video tutorials at Vectorworks University, but none of them helped me to clarify these doubts or understand how I should use these tools for my benefit/workflow.

Wow, I thought this might be a new cool feature or upgrade of the Rotate Tool.

Like being available in any 3D App.

But unfortunately I did not find such an option in top bar and unfortunately am not able to

reproduce your behavior here in my VW 2025 ....

But I found that option, to rotate about Objects center, in Modify > Rotate 3D

I am still on VW2024.

I try understand how I can change this but… I don't find any button or hide menu… but…. Didn't find anything 😅

Maybe you can use that Rotate 3D Tool

(with that Object's Center option OFF and Next Mouse Click instead)

as a workaround to rotate as expected.

But it looks like you need to know your desired rotation angle before.
