matthewdrury
I'm updating our template file as we migrate our new projects to VW 2025. We use various logos depending on the project that I'd like to automate in the title block using a custom drop-down field in the Project Data tab. I've also got images for drawing stamps that I'd like to select from a drop-down field in the Sheet Data tab. I don't really like the text-based built-in drawing stamp and would really like to use imported graphics. In the past we'd just duplicated the Title Block Style and modified the different stamps for each style. But of course that adds up when you add another variable of saved logos. Has anyone had experience linking these data fields to a symbol's visibility? Or maybe a symbol's class? I thought scripting might be the answer, but haven't had much luck with it. I need the solution to be portable with the file too. That way I can share it with my teammates and it just works. Quote Link to comment
garrettohler
Your best bet might be to create a symbol called "TitleBlockLogo" or something similar. Then you can just replace that symbol with the logo you need for that project, and all of your other specially stamped title blocks would be applied to the pages you want. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Or create different Title Block Styles with the different logos and change the entire title block instead of just the logo. The record data attached should stay intact, but test first before you go all in. Quote Link to comment
Ross Harris
Set up a title block class and sub class you logos under that. Add you logos to your title block symbol and class them accordingly, so you only need one titleblock. Works great as I have a similar scenario. matthewdrury
Great advice everyone. I did eventually think of nesting the logos in a placeholder symbol so that it would update everywhere. But now I kind of like the idea of organizing by subclass so I can apply it to a Title Sheet too. We originally had a several copies of Title Block styles, but that made it a real pain to make any changes, so I'm trying to stay away from that. Quote Link to comment
