Object Level Visibility - How are you using it?

Leading up to the release of v2025 I had the opportunity to work with the new Object Level Visibility feature a lot. I soon discovered that what I thought would be a useful feature had many more applications that I had first imagined and it quickly became one of my favourite new features.

Now that Object Level Visibility is available for you to use, I’m wondering how you do use it or how you envision using it as part of your design and documentation workflows.

Please share your ideas below to help inform and inspire others. Thanks!

(If you have other feedback that you would like to share about the feature, please visit our Public Roadmap and send us your feedback via the “Submit your idea” button.)

Hi Neil,

I totally agree. I find it brilliant because you don't have to worry whatsoever what class an object is in. Just click on what is in the way and voila!

Also, something that is really handy is that Saved Views remember these visibilities if you want them to. That means you can quickly set up a busy drawing and with one double click on a Saved View get right to where the action is.

As you know but I mention for others, clicking the Settings button in the mode bar there are a load of other options you can engage by double clicking the Visibility tool itself. Take a sec to read the options. I especially like the last one 'Makes only the selected objects visible'.

I wish there was a pull down menu here instead of having to click the Settings button each time as accessing these options is so useful.

Cheers,

Peter

For my daily projects I need a custom workspace, and I added this feature to my "right mouse click". For me, It is faster and convenient.

I've just added this to my right-click and you are right, it is super fast and convenient. If you want to hide several objects, the visibility tool is more convenient for me.

I did that initially too of course.

After I did not find in the RMB options.

Thought it is just missing because of using a custom Workspace.

Did not check the default workspaces for it so far.

One way that I am using Object Level Visibility is to hide walls here or there as I work on the interior design of a room...

For example, I am currently working on a small project within one room (I can't tell you what it is yet, but you'll see in time). While working on what is inside the room, I often want to quickly switch off one wall or another to get a view into the room from a particular location. Yes, I could use the Clip Cube to accomplish a similar effect, but since this is a small project I'm finding it quicker and easier to just hide the wall that is blocking my view into the room.

And when I want to work on just one object inside that room, I select it, then use the "Show selected objects only" command in the view menu to isolate it.

(I too have added the Object Level Visibility commands to my right-click or Object Context menu for my custom workspace like @Luis M Ruiz has, but I'm showing the command in its default location for those who haven't used it yet.)

Keep the ideas coming!

Object Level Visibility is not one of the most important VW Features for me.

At least in early VW 2025, many other things attract my annoyance detectors.

Because I currently still have to force myself to use it - muscle memory is

trained to hard to work with Clip Cube and Class/Layer Visibilities - although

I asked for it in the past myself and use it constantly in my other CAD !?

Nevertheless,

since added to my RMB Menus, it works comfortable and is a pretty useful tool.

But most important, for me it works flawlessly, even in initial implementation.

I agree with @Kesoon Chance it's a great way to quickly remove unwanted objects from viewports without having to faff around putting objects in special classes. One click with Visibility Tool + they're gone. My only wish would be it worked on section VPs in the same way as other VPs (with section VPs you have to enter Edit Section in Place + do it there whereas other VPs you can just use the Visibility Tool directly on the VP).

Just tried to use object visibility inside a 3D symbol definition. Too bad,-  this does not work 🙄

Interesting idea… I recommend heading to the Public Roadmap (see my first post) and submitting your idea. Ideally, explain how you would use Object Level Visibility inside a symbol so that we can understand how you would put it to use. Thanks!
