MMiller Lighting
Hey Folks, Laying out a typical corporate meeting. Trying to produce a worksheet that shows the total counts of each type of rented furniture. All symbols have Event Planning Record attached with a model name. All symbols are laid out as Seating Sections in the drawing. A few of the symbols used in the drawing are parent symbols that I created in order to display a specific chair/table orientation. Worksheet includes many objects outside of the selected database criteria; It looks like it's double-counting objects somehow. Screen Shot Attached Even a simple way to exclude objects from a database would be lovely. I'm fairly new to worksheets. Would love some help; thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Try adding the specific layer you want to count from into the criteria. I know that at one point the worksheet counted not only the objects on the design layers, but also the images of those objects in Viewports also. Quote Link to comment
Kevin Allen
could you use a graphic legend on one viewport? Quote Link to comment
MMiller Lighting
@Pat Stanford I've attached a screen shot of my worksheet criteria. I did specify one layer, which is why I'm confused. It seems to be counting the seating sections additionally to the actual chairs and tables themselves. The total number of furniture items should be 239 and it is showing 539 in the worksheet count. @Kevin Allen Do you mean using the Equipment Summary tool? I haven't tried it yet, but the goal would also be to send this to the client as an excel worksheet so they can pass it along to their furniture rental vendor. Additionally, I'm sure there are other instances where I'll need to understand how to exclude items from a worksheet. Any help on that topic could also fix the mess on this current file. Thanks again for the help! Quote Link to comment

Pat Stanford
Try adding an extra column into the database with a formula of =ObjectTypeName. That will tell you what types of objects are being returned and hopefully help you figure out what is happening. Do you possibly have the Record attached both the the Symbol and to objects in side the symbols? Quote Link to comment
MMiller Lighting
@Kevin Allen, thanks for mentioning the graphic legend tool. I haven't used it yet but see a lot of potential; although I can't figure out how to get object counts into it. @Pat Stanford, I spit out an excel file of the worksheet (attached) with the suggested object type name column. I also have a screen shot here that shows some of the layout. In order to get seating "pods" that include both tables and chairs in a specific layout I created nested symbols. The event planning record is only attached to the individual chair or table symbol, but the worksheet counts all of the parent objects that the symbol is in. The worksheet also counts the loci that are auto-populated in the seating section layout. I don't see any other way to build these seating sections properly. As such, I think the fastest way to fix this would be some sort of "include/exclude" filter for the worksheet itself. Any suggestions on how to do that? Or am I missing something here? Thanks, Total Seating Count by Type v6c_VW2Excel.xlsx Quote Link to comment

Can you share a sample VW file with the seating sections to play with? Quote Link to comment
