Dick Jenkins
I know I saw how to do this on here somewhere but I can't find it. I want to change the Vectorworks application icon color to distinguish VW 2025 from VW 2024 in my dock. I always have to have the current version and at least one version back in my dock because my projects last for years and I'm reluctant to keep moving old projects up too far. Vectorworks used to change the color from year to year but several versions back they were all black. I was able to do it for one file, but it did not change the application icon.Icon Change.vwx Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Paolo Bruno Posted October 2, 2024 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 2, 2024 Hello @Dick Jenkins To do that you will need to: Open Finder and navigate to Applications > Vectorworks 2025 Click the Vectorworks 2025 app and use the keyboard shortcut command + I (or right-click and choose Get Info) Have an image for the new icon, jpg or png often works. To create the new icon, you could, for example, download the 2024/2025 icon from Google and use the Vectorworks AI Visualizer to create a new-looking icon. Drag the image on top of the existing Vectorworks 2025 app icon (top left of the Get Info window) You may need to close and reopen the app to see the change in the Dock Quote Link to comment
Jeff Prince
One of the users here publishes nice versioned icons each year with a color and text scheme. 2 Quote Link to comment
Andrew Pollock
For what it's worth I make a new icon each year based on the colors of the new application. Enjoy Quote Link to comment
Dick Jenkins
This has all bee super helpful. Thank you to all who posted. I have always wondered why Vectorworks stopped changing colors with each new version. If anyone connected with the company sees this, could you explain the reasoning? 1 Quote Link to comment
