Title Block Duplication on Multi Paper Page Mode

karen.jr

Question

Dear all,

So far I wasn't aware of the function title block and just used symbols and duplicated them (very amateur attempt), so I'm not 100% sure if I'm doing anything wrong.

But when I tried to use the Multi Paper Page Mode with the title block I designed, it always popped out a window asking if I wanted to duplicate the title block (see attached). If I click Create Unstyled Objects, there will be nothing placed on my pages. However, when I clicked Duplicate Existing Style, it did show the title block that I designed, but then in the file, it always duplicated a new one which I feel is a bit extra to have. Sometimes it got me to edit the wrong title block when I needed to update information.

Because when I'm in a Single Page Mode, this never happens. It just used the title block that I chose and placed in on the page, so I was wondering why the the Multi Page Mode would cause this and if there is a way to not have this keep happening.

Thank you.

Karen

Hello @karen.jr,

As the alert states, you have some data set to be By Style, but for multiple pages mode this data has to be By Instance, because it is automatically calculated based on the page size. If you edit your style and set the listed parameters to be By Instance you should not see this dialog anymore.

@Nikolay Zhelyazkov When I edited my title block, I couldn't find where I can change from By Style to By Instance. I can see the By Style options are all in gray which I cannot edit. I'm not sure if I'm looking at the right place though.

You are editing a TBB instance. That's why the by style settings are greyed-out. You need to edit the TBB style. So in the OIP for the TBB click on the 'Style' drop-down then 'Edit Style...'. This will open the 'Title Block Border Style' dialog (as opposed to the 'Title Block Border Settings' dialog in your screenshot). Here all the settings are editable + this is where you say which parameters you want to affect all TBBs (by style) + which you want to be able to edit on a TBB-by-TBB basis (by instance).

You can also edit the style by finding the TBB in the Resource Manager + right-clicking on it + selecting 'Edit...'.
