KenD
It doesn't tell me what its called but appears to be a view quick change. I draw in 2-D. I dont need to change views and this thing is just in the way for me where I can accidentally click it. Thanks Quote Link to comment

Tom W.
@KenD move the cursor over it then click on the little grey OVC icon in bot LH corner to open options: disable 'Show Onscreen View Control' 2 Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
It is called the Onscreen View Control. If you work in 3D at all and change views, give it a chance. If you really don't want it, hover over it and you will see a grey icon at the bottom left. Click it and you get a menu where you can turn it off. 1 Quote Link to comment

Vectorworks, Inc Employee Kyle Sutton Posted September 23, 2024 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 23, 2024 @KenD: As @Tom W. and @Pat Stanford mentioned, what you are referring to is called the Onscreen View control and can be disabled/hidden as they described. Please see https://app-help.vectorworks.net/2025/eng/VW2025_Guide/Views/The_Onscreen_View_Control.htm for the Onscreen View control help if you would like to learn more about it. 1 Quote Link to comment

beanus
also if you hold the mouse button down over the view control and move the mouse the flyover tool comes up, useful. 1 Quote Link to comment
KenD
Thanks. I draw in 2-D only Quote Link to comment

KenD
Yes and sometimes I get very fast and "clicky" and noticed how easy it is to graze that and change views! 2 Quote Link to comment

I draw in 2-D only At the other extreme I work in 3D all the time and use a Spacemouse, so the little cube-y thing seems entirely superfluous for me too. TBH 2025 seems to be exactly the same as 2024 (even down to the viewbar sort order thing not working properly in compact mode with 4K displays after a year) other than (consults notes) a new countertop tool. But maybe the progress will gradually dawn on me... Quote Link to comment

Check out: - New Curb tool - Object Visibility - 2 Point Perspective - Hidden Line Clip Cube - Custom Units for Dimensions - New Modify > Attributes menu commands - Data Tag improvements especially Subpart Mode - Improvements to Hardscapes + Landscape Areas - Improvements to Home Screen Quote Link to comment

There have been comments elsewhere about "features no-one asked for" and I do think it's worth listening to these, alongside my acknowledging that some of the items on your list may be very helpful for people with particular set-ups/workflows. Vectorworks, Inc Employee Peter Neufeld. Posted September 26, 2024 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 26, 2024 Hello, Once installed, the first thing I recommend users is to open the Help in Vectorworks and click the "Welcome to Vectorworks" link. Then click the New Features link. In fact I wish this was more prominent. There will be more things than you might otherwise be aware of. Plus on top, there are always engineering advances under the hood that bring about all kinds of efficiencies and advances. Some small, some huge - some that may have taken several years to engineer but aren't actually features rather just part of the the cutting edge technology that Vectorworks employs. It isn't always about bells and whistles but you'd never go backwards - like with operating systems. Always forwards! Cheers, Peter Quote Link to comment

Cheers, Peter I do take all this on board - I've used Vectorworks for many, many years now and it's changed beyond almost all recognition. TBH given my use/workflow I'd rather have performance and reliability gains than extra bells/whistles - especially bells/whistles which I won't use. I'd like that flippin' view ribbon problem fixed. I'd like VW to not occasionally vanish various walls and floors, or need an occasional complete re-boot to fix some background collapse in function. I don't want this to sound like an extended whinge - I'm a generally happy user who sings its praises to fellow professionals and clients - AND - I do sometimes wonder about the value of new features. Maybe yes - speak more clearly about the background enhancements / robustness please. 3 Quote Link to comment
