EntEquipUniversal Record Does Exhibit Default Info When assigned to a Plug-in Object

LJW Design

Question

I want to follow up on an issue i reported a while back. I have heard nothing a fix. Squeaky wheel gets the grease....hopefully.

I have customized some plug-in hoist symbols from the VW library and attached the EntEquipUniversal record to them with different sets of data for each plug-in symbol. When the symbols get inserted into the drawing, none of the customized record data shows in the Object Info Pallet Data Tab from what I set as default values in the different record fields. Consequentially, It also does not show up in any worksheets, thus making me have to manually enter data that should already be there.

When I attach the EntEquipUniversal record to a plain, non plug-in symbol, the default information that I set for each symbol translates to the OIP Data Tab and all my worksheets perfectly.

Case: 00333099

Please look into this.

Are your hoist symbols "Red" (Convert to PIO) symbols?  If so, that is what you are losing the records. The symbol is never inserted in the drawing, only the PIO is inserted. The Symbol is just a container to hold the PIO in the Resource Manager.

You will need to edit the symbol and attach the record to the PIO instead.

@LJW Design
The EntEquipUniversal data record is auto-populated using the Data manager, this is why you lose the data added to the record in the symbol definition.
Most of the record fields are linked directly to Spotlight object parameters and will actively update as your design progresses and the parameters in the object data gets filled in or edited.

Maybe @Scott C. Parker can provide a bit more info about this, as the Data manger is a part of the software I'm not really up to speed on.

To be clear, I have added custom fields to the EntEquipUniversal record and I have already customized my data manager to recognize the new fields according to which symbol I am inserting. The process still result in custom fields that appear empty, even though I have assigned values in the new fields through the "Attach Record" Menu. I can send you and Scott C. Parker a file through DM please.
