Landscape Area issue with plants not staying inside border

Recommended Posts

I have the " Show all plant edges inside bed area" check box checked, but three of the plant objects are consistently outside of the bed area...

What's going on?

I tried another landscape area style, and everything WAS inside the border.

So I converted that style to unstyled, replaced each plant with the plants I was trying to use, and immediately the three plants I was having trouble with before and now outside the borders again.

below is the styled landscape area that works fine, and above is the same style, unstyled and plants replaced.

I check if these plants had some hidden geometry that was set over to the edge to make the plant bigger, but they don't. They are seemingly well-formed plant objects.

I'm also occasionally getting this warning "Plant diameters exceed the planting bed border in some areas" - but there isn't any input as to why or how to fix it...

Any ideas?

It is as I suspected, the insertion point for the plant show outside the boundary is not at the center of the plant.

You can see this by ungrouping the LA and looking at individual plants from the LA.  The plant object "SUCC-Echeveria 'Afterglow' EAG" has been scaled by an odd amount and has a different insertion point than its non-scaled counterpart found in the resource menu for this document.

Maybe it's a bug with how VWX makes LAs, maybe it is a bug with your custom symbol?

Those symbols have the insertion point in the center.

…not when they are part of the landscape area.

I haven’t used 2024 for any of my actual projects yet.  I will probably hang out on 2023 until 2025 becomes stable, which is usually 6-9 months after release 😞
