hollister design Studio
I have the " Show all plant edges inside bed area" check box checked, but three of the plant objects are consistently outside of the bed area... What's going on? I tried another landscape area style, and everything WAS inside the border. So I converted that style to unstyled, replaced each plant with the plants I was trying to use, and immediately the three plants I was having trouble with before and now outside the borders again. below is the styled landscape area that works fine, and above is the same style, unstyled and plants replaced. I check if these plants had some hidden geometry that was set over to the edge to make the plant bigger, but they don't. They are seemingly well-formed plant objects. I'm also occasionally getting this warning "Plant diameters exceed the planting bed border in some areas" - but there isn't any input as to why or how to fix it... Any ideas? Quote Link to comment

Jeff Prince
File can't be opened in 2024... You might check the insertion point of the plant objects that are located outside the LA boundary. Quote Link to comment
hollister design Studio
@Jeff Prince can i save the file to 2024 from 2025? Quote Link to comment

hollister design Studio
I just loaded it up yesterday and am testing it. Landscape areas seem to have had some improvements, and the editing menus are completely different. 2024: 2025: I might need to wait for a 'coffee break' about them 1 Quote Link to comment

hollister design Studio
Thanks @zoomer here is the 2024 file Landscape area border issue v2024.vwx 2024 doesn't have the "Show all plant edges inside bed area" check box, but the plants are still with in the border for that LA and are not for the other Landscape area border issue v2024.vwx Quote Link to comment
Jeff Prince
It is as I suspected, the insertion point for the plant show outside the boundary is not at the center of the plant. You can see this by ungrouping the LA and looking at individual plants from the LA. The plant object "SUCC-Echeveria 'Afterglow' EAG" has been scaled by an odd amount and has a different insertion point than its non-scaled counterpart found in the resource menu for this document. Maybe it's a bug with how VWX makes LAs, maybe it is a bug with your custom symbol? Quote Link to comment
hollister design Studio
Those symbols have the insertion point in the center. So I guess turning off the random scaling feature will be a start. Mostly I'm just going back to 2024 until 2025mis a bit less buggy. Quote Link to comment

I haven’t used 2024 for any of my actual projects yet. I will probably hang out on 2023 until 2025 becomes stable, which is usually 6-9 months after release 😞 Edited September 13 by Jeff Prince Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Katarina Ollikainen Posted September 16 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 16 @hollister design Studio, I've opened a Jira to see what's going on here. At first glance, I can see that the plants behave better when I create a style of the unstyled LA, but this shouldn't be a requirement. I'll keep you updated on what we find. 1 Quote Link to comment
hollister design Studio
@Katarina Ollikainen I noticed that too. Looking forward to you doing a coffee break on the new hardscape and landscape area improvements! Quote Link to comment
