Biscontin
Hi, Within the same file, is it possible to copy an object (which was created on Layer X with Class Y) and paste it (while I am on Layer Z and Class J) maintaining its Layer X and Class Y? Basically, regardless in which Layer and Class I am, the objects keep always the Layer and Class they were created in. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
Tom W.
The duplicated object will retain its class(es) regardless of what the active class is when you paste it. As regards layers, if you are working with your layer options set to Show/Snap/Modify + you want to duplicate an object on an inactive layer + have the duplicate stay on that layer you can't copy + paste because the pasted object will always be placed on the active layer. But what you could try instead would be Option-clicking on the object to duplicate it, either in place or drag it to new position: this would place the duplicate on the same layer as the original. Assuming I've understood what you want to do. 1 Quote Link to comment
Biscontin
Yes, duplicate retains the Layer info... Thank you 🙂 Quote Link to comment
