hollister design Studio
I've been trying to recreate my workspaces in 2025 and I've noticed a problem. Normally you can click and drag tools in the workspace editor to customize your palettes. you click get a transparent red symbol (not sure what it is...) and when you hover a blue line with a little arrow appears to indicate where the new location will be. This doesn't work on 2025 - the tool become grey highlight, but it doesn't get the red symbol - tools under the cursor just get highlighted too. here is a screen cap of 2024 showing the above: 20240911-2339-28.9230325.mp4 here is 2025 not working as expected: 20240911-2341-11.7166545.mp4 Quote Link to comment
0 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Rob Nykolaishen Posted September 11, 2024 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 11, 2024 @hollister design Studio I can get the same result if I click on a tool and immediately start dragging. But If I click on a tool, let go of the mouse button, then click on the tool a second time, I can now get the red highlight and can drag tools around. I have submitted it to our engineers VB-207233 2024-09-11_16-52-35.mp4 3 Quote Link to comment
0 E|FA
According to the New Features list there are improvements/changes to the Workspace Editor. For instance, installed items have a checkmark and you can move multiple items at a time. Here's the Help File Link. I haven't had a chance to try it. 1 Quote Link to comment
0 hollister design Studio
Thanks @E|FA and @Rob Nykolaishen, that explains it! You can shift click a number of tools and then drag them all under another tool. I bit buggy if the tool you are trying to group is right next to the tool you want to group under... but I do like it! 1 Quote Link to comment

0 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Payne Chang Posted September 12, 2024 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 12, 2024 Hi @hollister design Studio, Thank you for your question. Due to the expanded capabilities of tree controls, we need to modify the click-and-drag behavior. Now, items must be selected before the next click-and-drag action can move them. 1 Quote Link to comment
