Michael Siggers
Just a quick general enquiry to make sure I haven't missed something. Is there a way to lock object movement directions to X, Y, or Z? I know I can hold the Shift Key, and this generally works OK, but does not seem to work as well when there are objects in the background. Would be good to be able to toggle a key to hard lock it to either of the axis. Mike 1 Quote Link to comment
markdd
How about using the 3d Dragger widget, which is acivated using the third mode of the selection tool? Also, do you know about the T key? 2 Quote Link to comment

I was thinking of something more along the lines of Sketchup where pressing one of the arrow keys actually locks the movement direction to either X, Y, or Z axis. Mike Quote Link to comment
zoomer
The T key works relatively reliable for me. E.g. when moving/dragging something with the Selection Tool, hold the cursor over one of the red/blue/green Axis lines and press T. It will lock to that Axis and you can snap to any other vertex in 3D Space. Just if you do too much view zooming, T may forget the axis lock. And the problem with T is that you need a clean space under the cursor when pressing T, which can be hard in crowded drawings. As T actually was meant to grab and keep any angles of object edges you hover over, not necessarily as an axis lock. But it's the best we have in VW, beside the rising availability of the 3D Dragger/Gizmo. Although I am used a more capable, reliable and easier to use Gizmo another Apps. (E.g. Bricscad or Modo) 4 Quote Link to comment
