Speckle is a growing online, free open source collaboration tool supported by all kind of AEC related Apps. It uses "Speckle Connectors" to translate App's data into Speckle database format and to stream it back down into another App. These Connectors are widely available for Apps Like Archicad, Rhino, Blender, QGIS, ... and of course "Revit". Except for my CAD/BIM Apps Vectorworks and Bricscad .... 1 Quote Link to comment

0 Flair-Studio
I still need to get used to the "V" shortcut not working anymore with the visibility tool, now it seems to toggle on and off the hidden objects, perhaps I prefer to keep it the old way but I will give it a go. Really like the possibility to hide individual object in a viewport directly from the sheet layer Quote Link to comment

I registered on the Speckle website (https://speckle.systems/features/connectors/) after digging from your previous comment and discovred this little gem that hopefully one day will speed up collaboration between VW and other programmes as well ! Which of the supported Apps do you have access to or which Apps will you try ? Unfortunately I have only Blender, QGIS and Unreal Engine and all at beginner level 😉 I did a few tests of direct uploading of IFCs to Speckle and streaming them down to Blender. But that does not make much sense as BlenderBIM (now renamed to Bonsai) itself opens IFC already perfectly. Quote Link to comment

I come from an AutoCAD / Sketchup / Rhino / Vray environment and have a little bit of Revit, too. There are a bunch of colleagues out there that some times I collaborate with and for the time being we share documents in AutoCAD and ultimately in PDF, I just discovered this Speckle (following to your previous) and hope this could one day make collaboration for 3d modelling easier (by retaining much of the information from the exported model) and "futureproof" my choiche to switch to VW... It is still a long way for me and hopefully once I got there the plug in will be available for VW, too ! Quote Link to comment

I see all these people on their Forums exchanging between multiple on those supported Apps, finding bugs, getting fixes and seeing progress but am not able to test how 2-way exchange could be. Not sure what went wrong. There was a a"community" driven approach for a VW Connector which once stalled as the VW Python was not that easy/helpful, then there was communication with VW and following (NDA ?) silence. I was sure the silence means a great announcement with VW 2025 release - which did not happen. So no clue if it was just not ready or totally cancelled for arbitrary reasons. (I still can't imagine any reasons why VW would not want easier exchange with mainly Revit users) It is a bit like Apple ditching M3 Mac Studio updates when you hardly wait for a decent desktop hardware option (since basically 2012 ?) 1 Quote Link to comment
