Stefan B.
Hey, So, it is added an additional step when inserting hoists on a truss. While a single click is no longer enough, there is a need to choose the rotation of the hoist. Like any other symbol. While this is good, that stuff gets handled the same, and i most likely are getting used to the new function and will appreciate it in time it does not work properly in 2D plan. As I in 99% of the time would like no rotation to the hoist symbol in 2D plan, my initial goto method is to hold shift to lock the axes for my second hoist insertion click. This snaps to strange angles and doe not behave as i would expect it to. In Top view it works like a charm snapping to the axis. 20240910-1322-32.1098323.mp4 1 Quote Link to comment

Stefan B.
I do not understand how this is not found in alpha or beta testing. Do you need testers on your team? Quote Link to comment
spettitt
I didn't find an issue with it snapping to weird angles, maybe because I quickly found the easiest way to insert with normal rotation is to double click. Just seems faster than trying to set the rotation with the extension line and another single click. I did say I found the enforced second click frustrating. If people out there really want to rotate hoists and/or there is a desire for consistency across tools then sure, but the Lighting Device tool has now gained a single click mode...which we've now lost from the Hoist? IMO the hoist should have the same single click mode available as the LD. All of my users will select it and never change it... Quote Link to comment

I'm working on a task to add the single and distributed functions now avail w lights to the hoists. It'll take some time. Quote Link to comment
Stefan B.
It would be a great feature to be able to add multiple hoists as in fixtures. Naturally, with the hoist actually connecting to the truss. Very often I know the beam spread in the roof and would know that the hoists need to be 10m apart to hit a beam. In other situations the truss goes paralell to the beam and I know the load and can beforehand know what the hoist spread should be. 1 Quote Link to comment

Stefan B.
Hey, May i add another new feature that i don't think is on purpose? If in recourse manager double click on a hoist to activate the hoist tool and insert that hoist, the hoist you double clicked is not the one being inserted. Either the last one you inserted is active or the hoist hook, unless you change hoist symbol selection in the toolbar. Is this as intended? 20240930-0855-54.8489454.mp4 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee jcogdell Posted September 30, 2024 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 30, 2024 Hi @Stefan B. This is definetly a bug with the resource manager, I can verify that I'm having the same issue. It looks like it only affects the resource manager though so if you use the resource selector in the hoist tool it will insert the chosen host type correctly. I'll get a bug report opened 1 Quote Link to comment
