USD import/export (2024 SP6, Win11)

I'm not seeing the Export USD (3d Only) or Import USD in my File -> Import/Export menus.  I see that there are .vlb and .vwr files titled "USDExporter" and "USDImporter" in the Vectorworks 2024>Plug-Ins folder.

 

Any idea why they aren't showing up in the menu?

 

I'd like to try exporting via USD and importing to Blender.  Yes, there are other options for that route that I'm familiar with, but I'd specifically like to see if USD has any advantages. Thanks

I remember something similar happening in 2023 for Mac users.  Perhaps your version of Windows does not have the correct USD libraries?

I can confirm the tool is working as expected in 2024 on the Mac.

Are you using an old Workspace perchance?

Switch to one of the Default Workspaces and see if they appear.

Usd import/export is on all workspaces for me.

I mean the OP might be using an old migrated workspace.

Custom workspaces are often an issue as they don't contain new(er) commands unless you manually edit them.

 

Always a good idea to check with one of the default workspaces when you think something is missing.

Thanks everyone! Yes, I've been migrating my workspace along for years and that's why it didn't show up.  It would be nice if there was a way that when new stuff is available there was a notification/option to add it to your current workspace.

In the Workspace Editor, at the top of the lists of Menus + Commands, the first item is 'Recent Changes'. If you open this up it lists the new menus/commands introduced each year so when you change to a new version you can edit your custom workspace + come here + check what new stuff there is + drag it over to your workspace. The first year in listed is 2023 so presumably this wasn't available in 2022 + earlier + so unfortunately won't be available to you in VW2020 if that's the version you're using as per your signature.
