ConnectCAD Device Builder Search

Using the ConnectCAD device builder search function needs to be re-done.  The automatic search function in the make/model field is not helpful when my database is so large, it can add 30 seconds each time I have to search if I don't type fast enough.

As a workaround for now you can try to first specify the category/type, and then search for make/model. We will look into this and see what could be done.

I don't find the category/type useful at all because there is too much ambiguity to it.  For example, if I want an SDI audio extractor, is it a video or audio device, adapter, converter, embed/de-embed.  For a speaker, is it a loudspeaker, monitor, stage monitor, line array speaker?  I haven't found a way to change the category/type a device is in to make that section of the browser useful for me.  Just my 2 cents.  Maybe there is a proper way to use the category/type?  I haven't seen any specific method Vectorworks has documented about how they are building that database.

@avdoxa123 thanks for reporting this. We will definitely look into speed issue. Roughly how many device definitions are in your database?

@Conrad Preen Not too many more than the default database.  I usually add somewhere between 10-50 new devices per project, so maybe a an extra thousand at most over the 5 years I've been using CC.
