How can I change the text color of multiple text objects?

klief

Question

All text objects on the same layer. I changed the layer's pen color, but the text objects remain in the old pen color. They do not change along as I change the layer color! bug?

I have to enter the text boxes individually to change the text color, but that is not a feasible way.

That will then be the colour for subsequent text blocks created.

Take a look at ‘text styles’ and start to use/apply them.

Objects in VW can (mostly) have their colors set in four different ways.

1. By Instance: If you select the object and it shows it's color in the Attributes Pallette then the object is likely by instance.

2. By Class: If you select the object and it shows in the Attributes Pallette as a curvy arrow to the right, then the object is set to use the attributes set in the class.

3. By Layer: If you have Layer Colors enabled, then EVERY object on the layer will display in the attributes set to that layer. This is mostly for compatibility with other cad programs. VW is usually best operated by using Class attributes instead. Classes in VW are closer to Layers in other cad programs.

4. By Style: If an object is using a style and the color is set by that Style (usually By Class inside the style), then you must edit the Style to change the color.

As Gadzooks mentions, if you want to be able to change the color of a bunch of similar text blocks at once, using a Text Style is a good way to do it. If you only care about the color and not the other text parameters, then a By Class setting on the Fill Fore for those blocks may be enough.
