Graphic Legend U-Value Display

Matthew Thomson

Question

Hi everyone,

Having an issue with Graphic Legends since the latest update.  I had created Graphic Legends for my walls, slabs and roofs and have been using them for a few projects, but have realised in the last couple of days that all of my Lambda, R-Value and U-Values seem to be rounding to a precision of 1 but the unit settings don't seem to correct this.  Any ideas?  They are on the second and third sheet layers.

Hi @Matthew Thomson,

When I open the document in 2024 Update 6, I also see the Document Unit Precision set to "1" (not ".01").  So it does not look like Update 7 changed the setting for the file.

I'm thinking this may've been a bug that was actually fixed in Update 7 where the graphic legend was not respecting the document unit precision.  I still need to verify this.

BTW - TIP:  I noticed you have columns of 11 similar dynamic text objects with each looking at the same data but for different components.  You should be able to place the entire list in one dynamic text object as shown below:

@Matthew Thomson wow, your wall type graphic legend is such an interesting reference. May I ask you how the product name field gets populated? When I try to use the same definition used in your legend (#WS_NAME# #WS_MATPROPERTYBYNAME(COMPONENTMATERIAL(1); 'MaterialMark')#) I can't manage to get it working, having a wall style structure similar to yours (components, materials, etc).

I must admit I am not that skilled with functions and I'd just like to have listed in our wall types graphic legend the materials (and/or the components) each wall type is made of. Here attached is a sample file where I inserted 2 of our wall styles and - just as a test - a simplified version of your graphic legends

@Matthew Thomson

If you use this formula for the thicknesses, you will avoid getting a thickness of 0 if it's N/A.

#WS_IF(COMPONENTTHICKNESS(1)=0; ''; (COMPONENTTHICKNESS(1))#

or (if you wish mm at the end):

#WS_IF(COMPONENTTHICKNESS(1)=0; ''; CONCAT(COMPONENTTHICKNESS(1); mm))#

@StefanoT

Use:

#WS_COMPONENTNAME(1)#  for the first component, (2) for the second.. etc..
This returns the Name of the component.

The parameter (#WS_NAME# #WS_MATPROPERTYBYNAME(COMPONENTMATERIAL(1); 'MaterialMark')#)
Is calling the mark of the material which is this one:

If you fill this field it should appears in your legend.

Thanks a lot @FranAJA, il VW localised versions UI terms are translated while functions are not, and quite often the translation has some displacement or distance from the English term that makes things difficult to match ("mark" is traslated as "codice" in italian) ... and there is where I got lost.

I also find this helpful: https://developer.vectorworks.net/index.php/VS:Working_with_Materials
