Lucianot12
Good morning, I would like to know if there is a page or something to get, for example, plans of theaters, events, places and things like that, for example I saw a theater in Chicago through photos and I liked it, and I would love to create it in 3D so I can make a design, but I'm not very oriented about where you can get those things from, thank you very much Quote Link to comment
JBenghiat
There's not really a central repository for drawings. If the venue has a resident organization, they will usually provide you with drawings of the space, of varying quality. Commercial venues may have electronic CAD or PDF scans available, but some expect that you will do a survey. If you do find electronic drawings, they will most likely be 2D only, though an increasing number of theaters are modeling their spaces or doing LIDAR scans. In addition to contacting the venue, you can post a specific request to the various VW and design forums and see if someone is wiling to share. Particularly if you are a student, you may have luck with both these strategies. 1 Quote Link to comment
VIRTUALENVIRONS
I have recreated two large theatre Venues from the National Arts Centre in Ottawa Canada. As you can imagine there are security issues with what you are asking. Quote Link to comment
jmcewen
If you do happen to find a 3d model of a space, don't expect it to have all the fancy stuff. It will mostly be the volume of the space. Critical structures like the stage edge, proscenium opening, back wall, wings, lighting positions, and fly rail will be there, but any fancy mouldings and plasterwork will be left out. in short, I suspect the very things that attract you to the space will not be the things you will find in any 3d files. I am not making this assumption myself, but I would also be careful about calling up an arts organization requesting plans of a large gathering place in a post 9/11 world. There was a time when that may have just been an interesting diversion during someone's day, but they may find that suspicious these days. 2 Quote Link to comment
