Data visualization: 'if' condition for criteria

Hello,

 

Would it be possible to implement conditions such as 'if' for the criteria for data visualizations? Say I want all classes that contain the word "DEMO" (for "demolition") in the name take on a certain attribute, and that I have say 20 classes with containing "DEMO". As of now, I have to add them one by one to the criteria. A simple 'if' statement, which I believe is possible in worksheets, would do wonders. Any possibility of implementing it, or any workaround ready to hand?

Another way to say this is that it would be good to have a "Contains" option (and probably Begins With and Ends With) in addition to the Is and Is Not options for text fields like Layer and Class names.

You are absolutely right, this is more specific.

All formulae available in the Data Manager, and Data Tags, etc, should be available to Data Visualisation.

 

The clue is in the name!

 

But we could make use of the same options in the Symbol criteria, to be available for all, especially Class and Layer.

Oh, and while I think about it, the option to 'Auto-Colour' is useful but it would be better if it did not reset all the settings when you click it.

 

If I set, for example, line colour, but ask to 'retain original pen', I do not want it to return to solid pen, and remove the settings I have made to line weight by class.

Auto-colour needs a 'randomise' colour setting.  I haven't time to figure out why it ignores colours if you set the first colour at one corner of the colour palette and the last colour to the opposite corner.

String comparison operators implemented for Class and Layer criteria in VW2025 Update 4.

For auto-colors we added an option to use palettes as a set of colors instead of a gradient between the first and last colors.

I realised that if you select the same colour, for start and finish, it randomises more randomly.  Not entirely logical but does what we want.
