Modify point elevation on slabs.

FranAJA

Question

I haven't found anything within VW so far that can make this operation simple: moving a point of a slab up or down.

I find this operation quite complicated with slab drainage. Even if I only need to raise a point of a slab by just 100mm, I end up spending hours trying to figure out how to do it. This is a vital operation for BIM, and I wonder why it hasn't been implemented yet (or if it exists, I don't understand why it's hidden).

I wish it were possible to move any point of a slab along the Z-axis, just like we can do in Revit. It's not feasible to always use drainage, which is the most complicated tool I know in VW.Capture.thumb.JPG.b7642156c190ccec3eb1581bc0746d77.JPG

Yesterday I used the Drainage Option for Slabs for the first time.

I have one Floors Slab that has a sink.

I was quite surprised that the drainage pushed the edges of my slab upwards

instead indenting the sink.

Beside the need to do some math to get it as expected, I also needed to

create again a Slab Style duplicate just for that room with the sink.

@FranAJA and @zoomer: I did some testing on hardscape as I run into a project where I need this tool a lot. I made 3d-polygon(s) and adjusted vertex z-value to fit the shape I needed., then created a hardscape in "align-mood" same shape as polygon using snap to object.

I keep my 3d-polygones (or extrudes or any other valid align-shape) in a separate layer to make it easy to update and controle. (specify layer in hardscape-setting).

I also tried to use "create object from shape, it works but I got some issues when reshaping them, also it creates one hardscape for each polygone rather than one single hardscape controlled by more than one polygones.

Note: The slabs is by default exported as hardscape to IFC but this can easily be changed in the info-palette under data tab.

Hope this is useful for you until a more intuitive slab tool exist...
